Everyday Interventions for Everyday People

You can be an important part of an individual’s journey to safety.

Find out how

Esperanza responds to an increasing need in this community – the need for safety in our homes. However, as more people learn about the support services Esperanza provides, the requests for help increase. Compassionate and competent staff ensures that individuals and families feel safe coming to Esperanza for help. Individuals who seek safety in their relationships are never turned away.

Although Esperanza relies on funding from government agencies and foundations to cover much of our operating expenses, the ability to meet increasing community needs depends on you, Esperanza’s community partner. Each year, it is a challenge to secure the funding necessary to provide basic services for families affected by domestic violence. Agencies like Esperanza, that provide support for victims, intervention counseling and prevention services, are consistently under-funded.

After reviewing this report that details the positive impact Esperanza is making in the Santa Fe area, we hope you will join Esperanza in addressing increasing needs. Your support will provide the following:

  • Outreach and Education to youth in schools to teach children how to be in safe and healthy relationships
  • Counseling to children who have witnessed domestic violence or been abused
  • Training for volunteers to increase our ability to reach all those in need
  • Computers and other technological upgrades to enhance staff efficiency, meet accountability requirements to government agencies and provide employment training to shelter residents
  • Legal assistance for survivors with orders of protection and safety barriers
  • A new and much needed administrative building that will house all non-residential counseling and support services

Your gift allows Esperanza to meet the most pressing needs at any given time. When you give to Esperanza it is a simple and flexible process. Your contribution may include a variety of assets including cash, securities and real estate, which may be donated during your lifetime or in your estate plan.

Should you decide to include Esperanza in your estate plan, the following options are available, each with special tax benefits: bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, individual retirement accounts, charitable gift annuities and charitable life insurance. Please call Sherry Taylor, Executive Director, at (505) 474-5536, for more information.

Donated Goods Esperanza’s shelter program is always in need of donated items. Please call the shelter at (505) 473-5200 to find out their current needs and to arrange a time to drop off your donations.

Volunteer

Volunteers are welcomed into the Esperanza family and valued for the contributions they make. Volunteer services are needed for the Outreach and Education Program, shelter services and administrative tasks. Esperanza provides volunteer training 2-3 times a year, offering invaluable information about the dynamics of domestic violence and about how best to support our clients, agency and greater community.

If you are interested in volunteering at Esperanza, please contact Kaylyn Palella, Outreach and Education Coordinator, at (505) 474-5536.
